The internet, a blessing or a curse? Just like everything else in life it all depends on how one uses it. In the case of Lambdamoo people became confused between reality and the cyber space game. With such blurry lines between cyber space and reality many people are becoming confused with who they truly are. With so many virtual worlds one can enter online, who wants to deal with the real world? In this story the people who interacted in this site became completely lost. Participating in such cruel acts that they probably would not do in real life, shocked them. All showing how the internet messes with people head. There are no consequences for ones actions on the internet. The whole Lambdamoo world was a MUD, a database designed to give users the vivid impression of moving through a physical space that does not even exist.
This whole article was very confusing to me. At first I thought it was going to be about predators on the internet and their targets. After reading it I realize that it was all about a cyber world that was created and people being confused about the scenarios that went on there. The main point, in my opinion, is that the internet can be bad?! I mean these people spend their time in virtual worlds where there fingers do the living for them instead of interacting in the real world. I use the internet for research and staying in touch with friends, teachers, family and the occasional YouTube hits, besides that you will never find me on a virtual world touching other virtual characters. These games could be dangerous. Games like these are what confuse people. Some people leave these virtual sites, with their minds still in cyberspace, and go out into the real world thinking these actions are ok to do to REAL people.
In the future, I will be sure to tell my children and students the proper way of using the internet In hope that they will never be exposed to such virtual freak shows.
